G. Fred Sermersheim, 78, of Oakland City, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at 12:32 a.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

 

He was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Princeton.

 

He worked for Potter and Brumfield in Princeton for 40 years and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Achernar.

 

He was was preceded in death by his father, Leo H. Sermersheim Sr., in 1979.

 

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Mona (Day) Sermersheim; his mother, Geraldine (Hillis) Sermersheim of Oakland City; daughters Cindy Sermersheim of Oakland City and Stephanie (Robert) Stoneberger of St. Francisville, Ill.; a son, Roger (Robin) Sermersheim of Oakland City; brother, Leo H. (Bernice) Sermersheim Jr., of Honolulu, Hawaii; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral services were Sunday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, with burial in Columbia White Church Cemetery near Princeton.
