Wilma L. (Barnett) Conner peacefully left us on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Heritage Center.

 

She was born in Winslow, on April 5, 1927.

 

Wilma had a strong Christian faith and worshiped in the Baptist Church. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Oakland City where she served the Women’s Bible class in many different capacities, taught Sunday school and served on many other committees and functions.

Wilma was very involved with her sons in their childhood as a Cub Scout den leader, “pink lady” at the school, classroom parent, and supporter of all their activities.

 

Wilma is survived by her sons, Roger, Randy (Zoe), and Rick (Beth). Grandchildren, RJ Conner, Breanna (Aaron) Black, Zach Conner, Jamie (Jason) McLaren, Adam (Abbie Cook-fiancé) Conner, and Katie Conner. Four great-grandchildren, and her sister, Phyllis Preston.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Conner, parents Earl and Cora (Willis) Barnett, sisters, Eldena Poehlein, Beatrice Richardson, Mary Lou Scharfenberger, Ruth Heacock, granddaughter Kiersten L. Conner, and daughter-in-law Kathey Conner.

 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, officiated by Reverend Larry Johnson, with interment at Park Lawn Cemetery in Evansville.

 

Friends may visit Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to service time.
