Joyce Marie (Madden) Utley, age 77, of Newton, Ill., passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Newton Rest Haven.

 

Per Joyce’s wishes, graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Maple Hill Cemetery, PrincetonInterment to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.

 

Joyce was born on June 21, 1934 in Gibson County, the daughter of Arthur Jack and Corriene (Lindsey) Madden. 

 

On May 11, 1951, Joyce married Lennis Edward “Ed” Utley.  He preceded her in death May 16, 2001

 

In addition to caring for her husband and family, Joyce was a retired licensed practical nurse, having cared for patients for many years.  Through the years, Joyce worked at nursing homes in Mt. Carmel, Ill., Oakland City and Princeton, as well as Gibson County General Hospital.

 

Her memberships include Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile ISIS Temple No. 41, Evansville.

 

She will be remembered by her son, Lennis Edward “Eddie” Utley, Jr. of Douglasville, Ga.; daughters, Dara Diel, husband Garry of Newton and Evanna Sue Utley of LaPlace, La.; three grandchildren, Amanda Zumbahlen, husband Jeff and Jill Bierman, husband Ben both of Newton, and Zachary Kolb, fiancée Stephanie Meadows of Evansville; nine great-grandchildren; brother Jack Madden, wife Mary of Evansville; brother-in-law, Bill Pauley of Princeton; one nephew, two nieces, and several great nieces and nephews.

 

Her parents, husband Ed, infant daughter Sherrlyn Elaine Utley, and sister Sherrlyn Pauley preceded her in death.
