Virginia Nell “Jennie” Haas, 88, Velpen and formerly of Oakland City and Evansville, died Thursday, June 28, at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City.

 

She was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Butler County, Ky. to Charlie and Polie (Hopf) Givens.  She was married in Shawneetown, Ill., on March 9, 1968, to Robert L. Haas.

 

She worked 20 years at Mid-States Rubber Co. in Princeton and later worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg.  

 

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Givens and James Givens; and two sisters, Virginia Haas and Earlene Grubb.

 

Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Haas of Velpen; four children, Roger W. Brown of Evansville, Theresa Hathaway of Princeton, David (Debbie) Haas of Huntingburg, Jerry Haas of Lynnville; a brother, Charles “Buck” Givens of  Butler County, Ky.; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and  nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services are at 9 a.m. Monday at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City. Pastor Larry Johnson will officiate.

 

Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home.
