Mary Ellen Summitt-Adams, 82, Princeton,  passed away at 2:55 p.m. July 7, 2012 at her residence. 

 

Mary was born Sept. 12, 1929 in Vincennes, the daughter of Raymond and Edith (Norrington) O’Dell.

 

She married Rev. Homer Summitt Jr. Aug. 10, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1998. She then married Gene Adams Oct. 5, 2004 and he preceded her in death Jan. 4, 2007.

 

Mary was a lifelong resident of Indiana. She loved the Lord and loved to read, especially the Bible. Her hobbies were her children and grandchildren and she dedicated her life to them. Mary always looked to give. She was a very beautiful singer and loved to sing in church every Sunday.

 

Survivors include daughter Zella Summitt-Wiseman and her husband, Phillip of Oakland City, daughter Brenda Rish of Princeton; son, David Summitt and his wife Nancy of Seminole, Fla.; daughter, Star Dunn and her husband, Dave of Wheatland; sister, Shelby Jean Junod and her husband, Bill of Bicknell; brother, Ted O’Dell and his wife Debbie of Evansville; sister, Tresa Baize of Bicknell; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one son, Kenneth Ray Vorhese Summitt and one grandson, Phillip Wiseman, Jr.

 

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 1 p.m. EST Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Pastor John Moreland officiating. Burial will follow in Edwardsport Odd Fellows Cemetery.

 

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday from Noon until service time.
