Major William A. “Bill” Miller, Retired, 79, of Oakland City entered rest on Thursday July 26, 2012 at his daughters home in Marianna, Fla.

 

He was born on Jan 14, 1933 in Somerville to Ernest & Dorothy (VanMeter) Miller.

 

He graduated from Oakland City College and taught at North High School. Later he joined the USAF and enjoyed his career as aerospace engineer. One of his many accomplishments was his work on the A-10 aircraft. He was proud to have earned the Distinguished Pistol Shot Medal.  

 

Bill retired from USAF as rank of Major, and was a lifetime member of Oakland City American Legion Post # 256.

 

Bill was preceded in death by wife Anna Carol Miller and son Micheal Lee Miller.  

 

Survived by daughter Sheryl L. (Gerald) Crum; grandsons; Gerald M. (Katrine) Crum and Daniel S. Crum; great grandsons; Devin A. Crum and Nicholas M. Crum. Stepson Stacey Brent Lynch.

 

Funeral services will be Wednesday August 1, 2012 at 9 a.m. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with burial in Forsythe Cemetery. Rev. Charles Gipson will be officiating.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. on and from 8 a.m. until services.
