Robert L. Dowty, 69, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at St. Mary Medical Center in Evansville.

Bob was born May 20, 1943 in St. Francisville, Ill. the son of John Michael and Edith Ellen (Noel) Dowty.

He retired from USF Holland as a truck driver. Bob was a member of the Maumee General Baptist Church. He severed in the United States Navy, was a member of the American Legion Post 51 and Teamsters Local 215.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Brenda K. (Crackel) Dowty; daughter, Edie Dowty; sons, Tracy and Michael Dowty; grandchildren, Christopher (Tricia) Goodman and Jennifer Goodman; great-grandsons, Austin James and Tristan Lee Goodman; sister-in-law, Donna (Ronnie) Clark; brother-in-law, Harold (Kathy) Crackel; several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill and grandsons, Taylor Lee Dowty and Jon Michael Mauck.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 at Holders Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Reeder and Donnie Mobley officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion post 51 and the VFW post 1147. Burial will be in the Maumee Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
