Sadie Black, 99, of Oakland City entered rest on Sunday Sept. 9, 2012 at her home.

She was born on April 2, 1913 in Gibson County to Ralph & Fannie (Barrett) Atkinson.

Sadie was member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was organist for over 40 years. She retired as Secretary from Oakland City Elementary School. After retirement she volunteered at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Sadie was preceded in death by Harry Black 1995.

She is survived by her daughters:  Marcia (Paul) Couts, Cathy (Ronnie) Williams of Oakland City; Janet (Bill) Shoultz of Petersburg; grandchildren: Mike Couts, Barb Barr, Steve (Pam) Couts, Bryan (Ann) Shoultz, Bryce (Angela) Shoultz, David Williams, Danny (Peggy) Williams, Roger Williams; 20 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren

Funeral services will be Thursday Sept. 13, 2012, 10 a.m. Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with burial in Montgomery Cemetery. Rev. Larry Stoops will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Chapel.
