NEWBURGH—Duane H. Caskey, 77, of Newburgh, and formerly of Buckskin, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville.

 

Duane was born March 28, 1935 in Jasonville, to Harold and Ruth (May) Caskey.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired in 1994 from Alcoa with 31 years of service.

 

He was a member of the St. John’s Church of Buckskin for over 50 years. He also was a member of the Lynnville Masonic Lodge 396, Lynnville Eastern Star 542, Senior Citizens in Newburgh, and the Hadi Shrine Valley of Evansville, where he was on the hospital staff.

 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine Caskey of Newburgh; five children and their spouses, Cathy (Bobby) Doane of Newburgh, Barbara (Michael) Wise of Princeton, Stephen (Cathy) Caskey of Oakland City, Barry (Christina) Caskey of Somerville and Nora Faye (Bobby) Caskey-Schmits of Francisco; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Gwenda (Tom) Deal of Owensville.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Haley Caskey; brother, Robert Caskey; sisters, Wanda Long, Bernice Cork, Mary Martha Caskey and Sandra Troye.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at St. John’s Church of Buckskin, officiated by Rev. Jason Ford. Burial will be at the St. John’s Cemetery in Buckskin.

 

Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City and from noon until service time Tuesday at the church. There will be a Masonic service Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
