Leona A. (Tepool) Halbig, who always said raising five boys made her tough, died Friday evening, Sept. 14, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was 92.

Her husband of 65 years, Austin, died May 14, 2007. They were a true team in raising their five sons.

Leona was a homemaker who went to work outside the home later in life. She worked at the Harper Dining Center at the University of Evansville for several years. She loved her time there and had many fond memories of UE students.

She was a charter member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, where she received the Brute Award with Austin. She was involved with Senior Citizens at St. Theresa, and helped for many years with Sunday dinners, quilting and the summer social at the church.

Even though she had Alzheimer's, she was still quite the Clabber player.

Surviving are five sons, Larry (Judy) of Indianapolis, Steve (Marce) of Evansville, Tom (Joy) of Evansville; Rick (Jan) of Evansville, and Mike (Laurie) of Evansville; 17 grandchildren, Tina Galloway, Todd Halbig, Angie Hexamer, Julie Halbig, Marc Halbig, Kent Halbig, Darren Halbig, Emily Adams, Austin Halbig, Joy Noel McDowell, Dekajuan Halbig, Malana Halbig, Ariana Halbig, Hillary Halbig, Cory Halbig, Audrey Feagley and Ashley Payne; 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way, nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, with Fathers Ted Tempel and Steve Lintzenich officiating. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery in Haubstadt, Ind.

Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
