Dorothea Mae (Murphy) Spindler Couch, 91, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville,

 

She was born Nov. 22, 1920 in Posey County the daughter of James Stanton and Mildred Blanche (Beloat) Murphy.

 

Dorothy was a graduate of Stewartsville High School class of 1939, her memberships included, First General Baptist Church, Red Hat Society, DAR, American Legion Aux. for 63 years, Home Ec. Club, Tri-State, Posey and Gibson County Historical Societies and three bridge clubs. She also had a love for sewing, crocheting and genealogy.

 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patty (Bill) Knowles; step-daughter, Sue Sims; two granddaughters, Erin Knowles-Vanderpool and Stephanie Knowles; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Caleb Coffman, Henry and Amelia Rose (Millie) Knowles-Vanderpool; brother, George Richard Murphy.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Henry Spindler; second husband, Wayne Couch, Oct. 30, 2009; brothers, Eldon, Robert and Jim Murphy; sisters, Marjorie Murphy, Eloise Miller and Edith Rueger; infant daughter, Caye Ellen Couch.

 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Donald Mobley officiating. Burial will be in theBethel Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
