James “Jim” Austin Farrar, age 51, of Owensville, Indiana, passed away suddenly at his home Sunday, Oct. 28th.

He was born March 19, 1961 to the late James and Joyce Farrar of Wadesville.

Jim was a big man in stature and heart.  His love of laughter and practical jokes will be missed and remembered. Jim always put a smile in our hearts and on our faces.

Jim loved his surviving wife, Ronda; her son, Joel; daughter, Tara and their eight grandchildren.

A big part of Jim’s joy for life included fishing for bluegill and bass. Playing clabber was also another big part of Jim’s life. He would often play with family and friends and was a member of many clabber leagues. His many pets throughout his life included exotic snakes, abandoned squirrels, dogs, cats, goats and a tarantula all of whom he lovingly named and learned about in order to give them the best care. Jim also enjoyed watching football and basketball when weather kept him indoors.

A few months ago, he rededicated his life to his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his joy spilled over in everything he said and did! He taught many of us how to love better and give more often and how to accept what life hands you without complaining.

He will be missed by his older sisters; Donna (Chuck) Heath of Evansville, Vicki (Bud) Simpson of Wadesville, Lana (Ricky) DEan of Winslow, and April (Gary) Doornwaard of El Paso, Texas; nieces, Heather (Chris) Morlan, Hillary (Mike) Cremeens, Ashley (Jason) Martin, Summer (Josh) Deig, Kelly Joh DEan and Devon Doornwaard; nephews, Christopher (Mary) DEan, Jason (Sara) DEan and Colton Doornwaard.  Also, surviving Jim were his many adoring “fans”, his great nephews and nieces.  Jim was especially blessed to be “adopted’ into the Guess family of Evansville and is survived by Jeannie Ivy, Jason Guess and Jamie Guess.  He is also survived by uncles Winston (Barb) Short, John Short and Dean Short and Aunt Mary Creek.

The family will say goodbye for now with a memorial in Jim’s honor.  It will be held at his church, Mt. Zion General Baptist Church, Wadesville, IN., Friday at 10:30 am. Rev. Rick Sellers will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Church cemetery.
