Charlotte Ann (Rowe) Houchin Dickerson, 68, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at her residence after an eight-year struggle with COPD. She went to be with Our Savior.

 

Charlotte was born March 29, 1944 in Oakland City to Earl and Dorothy Rowe. She was the eldest of five children.

 

Charlotte worked many different jobs over her lifetime. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant, well-known cook for many years at Nancy’s Restaurant, and finished her working career with the Indiana Department of Transportation where she served as a Job Steward. She was an avid reader, great dancer, and an excellent cook.

 

Charlotte’s pride and joy of her life was her family. Surviving are her four children Cindi (Tony) Houchin Barnett of Petersburg, Peggy Houchin Falls of Largo, Fla., Lonnie Dickerson of Princeton, and Lannie Dickerson of Bellingham, Wash.; two granddaughters she raised Marleeta Dickerson of Owensville and Monique Dickerson of Princeton; a sister Rebecca (Jack) Traylor of Washington; a brother Robert (Lynn) Rowe of Oakland City; a sister-in-law Karen Rowe of Oakland City; other grandchildren Adam and Ashley Falls, Crystal Nieves, Dalieth Hadlock, Austin and Kelley Dickerson; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Thomas Rowe, sister Le Nora Rowe and a grandson Lathe Barnett.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Forsythe Cemetery west of Oakland City. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City is in charge of arrangements. The family extends a special thanks to Vista Care Hospice for the wonderful loving care they provided.
