Ruth Olivia Emmert Rietman, born July 30, 1927, in Haubstadt, to Elnora (Schafer) & Peter J. Emmert.

 

She lived most of her life in Haubstadt except for seven years, in St. Philip.

 

She married Walter Rietman on May 12, 1949. He survives her, along with the four children who were born to this union: Diane Lamey (Jim); Mark W. (Cheryl); Rick; and Leah Haley (Kent). Also surviving are her eleven grandchildren: Tricia Evans; Lisa Jones (Rodney); Chad Lamey (Andrea); Craig Lamey (Tracie); Jason Chambliss (Suzanne); Sarah Reffett (Matt); Adam Rietman; Kendra Pennington (Todd); Tom Haley (Amy); Stefanie Haley and Alex Haley. Twenty-one great grandchildren: Isaac, Noah, Madeline, Mitchell & Halle Evans; Rachel, Claire, & Ella Jones; Beau, Kyndall, Kate , and Addyson Lamey; Hadley Lamey; Andrew, Jacob, and Lillian Chambliss; Layla Ruth Reffett; Olivia & Hayden Pennington; and Blake & Kent Michael Haley, also survive her.

 

Other survivors include her brothers, Roger Emmert of Haubstadt, Robert Emmert of Ferdinand and one sister, Sister Emily Emmert, O.S.B., of Beech Grove and Honorary Sister, Renilda Kissel.

 

Ruth is preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Rose Hunter, Sister Mercedes Emmert, O.S.B.; Paul Emmert; John Emmert; and Bernie Emmert.

 

She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a housewife for most of her married life except for ten years when she worked at Haub Steak House, Humperts Tavern and Walt’s Place. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt, a 60 member of the Daughters of Isabella, a member of the Blessed Virgin Alter Society, Prayer Chain of Sts Peter and Paul, sang in the funeral choir and loved singing the polka Mass.

 

The family would like to thank Angie, Will and Jerry for their compassion and care they provided through Hospice. The family would like to thank her friends and neighbors that were so kind and supportive through her illness.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday Nov. 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Sts Peter and Paul Church in Haubstadt will Father Tony Ernst and Father Brian Emmick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

 

Visitation for Ruth will be Sunday Nov. 4, 2012 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, and again at the church from 9 a.m. till time of service on Monday with a rosary at 10:45 a.m. at church.
