Steve Pichon, 57, of Oakland City, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed from this life on December 30, 2012 into the arms of his Lord.

 

Steve was born November 13, 1955 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Jim & Shirley (Memmer) Pichon.

 

He was a member of the UMWA Local 4343 and Lynnville Masonic Lodge and worked for most of his life as a heavy equipment operator. One of his proudest achievements was helping to disassemble the dragline, Divet, which he operated and helped build in Petersburg; he worked to reassemble the machine in Florida at its new mine. Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR & westerns; due to his gift of gab, he never met a stranger. His grandson, Brax, was the light of his life.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, grandparents Norman & Beulah Memmer, brother Michael.

 

Steve is survived by his wife of 36 year, Sherri (Hill), daughter Laurie (Bart) of Evansville, son Matthew of Bismarck, ND, brother Jim Pichon of Frankfort, IN; sister Debbie McElwain (Lynn) of Villa Ridge, MO; Susie Coleman (Garland) of Ste. Genevieve, MO; Terri Hedgpeth of Festus, MO, several aunts, numerous nieces and nephews and his special grandson Braxton Robinson.

 

Celebrations of life will be Saturday January 5, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with burial in Barnett Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Cory Herrin will be officiating.

 

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until services on Saturday. A Masonic Memorial service will be conducted on Saturday at 12:35 P.M.
