Jeffrey T. Witt, 56, passed away Friday Dec. 28, 2012 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Ill.

 

He was born Dec. 2, 1956 in Princeton.

 

He graduated P.C.H.S. in 1974.

 

Jeff was a proud Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He was a Civil War buff, an avid reader and was very passionate about many interests. He was a staunch democrat who enjoyed lively political discussions, while always managing to have the last word.  He was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church and the M & M Sunday school class.  

 

Survived by two sisters, and brothers-in-law, Betty and Ike Farris of Princeton, and Carolyn “Rusty” and Frank Coulter of Somerville, nephew Shane Cansler (Christina), nieces, Nikki Cansler (Nick Powell), Brittney Cansler (Marty Robbins), Brehanna Farris, Jessi Cansler, Layney Conder, Weston Cansler and Aria Cansler. Jeff is also survived by a special friend Darlene Eggleston and his beloved cat Kang. 

 

He was preceded in death by his mother Dixie L. Witt, May 27, 2011 and his father George Proctor.

 

Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Maple Hill Cemetery 11 a.m.  Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 with Rev. Lisa Schubert Nowling and Rev. Kaitlin Moore officiating.  Burial will follow the services.

 

There will be no visitation Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton is entrusted with the arrangements.  Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the services. The Retired Veterans will conduct military services.
