Eliza Mason Austin, 95, of Oakland City passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at Good Samaritan Home in Oakland City.

 

She was born Aug. 24, 1917 in Spurgeon to Shelby and Mary (Doerner) Mason.

 

She had worked at Deters Jewelry Store. She was a former member of the Oakland City Senior Citizens. 

 

She is survived by her sister, Alma Hunley of Loveland, Colo.; nieces, Marlene Shelton (Ray) of Newburgh, Teresa Riley of Louisville, Ky., Lynette Logsdon (Earl Meyers) of St. Louis, Mo., Lucretia Houchins (Ron) and Pamela Fetcher (Mike) both of Francisco, Mary Hall of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Vonnie Jean Holland of Petersburg and Oleva James (Gerald) of Aurora; nephews, Alan Whitman (Joyce) of Oakland City, Larry Whitman (Sharon) of Oakwood, Ill., Darrell Whitman (Angie) of Bicknell and Steve Hunley (Kathy) of Loveland, Colo.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ferris Austin in 1962; two brothers, Chester and Edward Mason; four sisters, Phyllis Riley, Lora Ropp, Dora Grubb and Elnora Whitman.

 

Funeral Services will be held graveside at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City, with Rev. Charles Gipson officiating. Burial will follow.

 

There will be private family visitation. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
