Maxine (Masters) Freeman, 87, of Evansville passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.

 

Maxine was born in Glezen on April 15, 1925 the daughter of Tom and Flora (Jones) Masters.

 

Maxine married Harold Walter Freeman in 1942 and Evansville became their home. After raising her children she worked as a nurses aide for Deaconess Hospital and later drove a school bus for handicapped children. Maxine was a  faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She  was a member of the Sigma 12 Homemakers Club, the VFW 1114 Auxiliary, and the Senior Citizens of Princeton. She also enjoyed bowling and crafts. 

 

Maxine is survived by her son, Robert Lee Freeman (Martha) of Evansville; daughter’s, Mary Marie Taylor (Randy; deceased) of Florence, Ala., Brenda Joyce Mickel  (John; deceased ) of Evansville, and Cindy Devine-Woods (Keith) of Evansville; sister, Carolyn Pyle (John) of Princeton; grandchildren, Laura Freeman, Gayle Green, Stephanie  Myers, Billy Mickel, Tammi Link, Jennifer Preston, Sandy Kaiser, Joann Hicks, Tim Ashby, Bill Ashby, Robin Gregg, Candy Block, Randy Taylor, April Killgore and many great grandchildren. 

 

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, Harold Freeman; daughter, Janice Kae Kaiser; and sisters, Adele Burdick and Marie Hodges.

 

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home 738 Diamond Ave. with Rev. Danny Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery

 

Friends may visit from 3 until 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home.
