Mary Helen Gerkin, 90, went into the arms of Jesus, Monday, Mar. 4, 2013 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville

 

She was born Feb. 1, 1923 in Princeton to Leonidas and Ella (Hendricks) Gibbs. 

 

She resided in Newburgh the past five years and was formerly of Gibson County.  She was a retired Executive Personal Assistant. A friend and prayer partner of Day Spring Community Church of Owensville. She had been a Sunday school teacher, a Bible study leader; prayer warrior and spiritual mentor to her many friends of all ages. She was the treasure of her family and had a special bond with her great grandchildren.

 

Survived by her daughter, Lynn (Michael) Powell of Evansville; two grandchildren, Jason Powell of Fishers, Indiana and Jessica (Andy) Burch of Louisville, Kentucky; four great grandchildren, Isabella Powell, Marissa, Micah and Nolan Burch; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Gibbs and Mary Gibbs both of Princeton.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Marvin Davis from northern Indiana, Eugene and Lawrence Gibbs of Princeton both in 2007. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Mar. 8, 2013 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Scott Burr officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Princeton.

 

Visitation will be from noon until the service hour on Friday at Colvin Funeral Home.
