Helen Kairns Havill, 92, Princeton, died on March 5, 2013 at her home in Princeton following two hospitalizations and a stroke since December 25. Her three children were at her side.

Helen’s spirit—her essence—was caring, concern, and compassion for others before self. She devoted her life to her husband, family, friends, church, and quietly living her faith in God. Everyone who knew her felt, “The world needs more of Helen,” as a friend recently said.

She was active for over sixty years in First Presbyterian Church—as deacon, elder, session member, and teacher as well as member and officer of the Presbyterian Women’s Association. She also was active in many community groups—The Tourists, Sorosis, Tri Kappa, and P.E.O.

Helen was born January 27, 1921 in Universal IN to John and Loveday Kairns, both deceased.

She married C. Nelson Havill on May 19, 1944. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary before his death on March 14, 2008.

She also was preceded in death by her four brothers Tom, Bill, John, and Paul and her sister Erma.
Helen is survived by her loving children, Karen Elizabeth Havill Bingham of Murfreesboro TN, Thomas Nelson Havill of Indianapolis IN, and Debra Lynn Havill of Markleville IN; many loving nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Smelia (John) Kairns, Betty (Bud) Havill and Pat (Paul) Kairns; and by her beloved church family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 8 at First Presbyterian Church in Princeton IN with the Dr. Gene Gladney and Rev. Julie Post officiating. Burial will be at the Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton.

Friends may visit from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, March 7 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday at the church.
