James “Jim” A. Eckert, 73, of Somerville, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed from this life on April 22, 2013.  He died peacefully surrounded by his family at home after a three year battle with cancer. 

 

Jim was born June 7, 1939, in Huntingburg, to the late George Eckert and Maxine Eckert Marshall.

 

He was a member of the UMWA Local 4343.  He worked most of his life as a coal miner.  Jim really enjoyed restoring old vehicles and talking with family, friends, neighbors and strangers.

 

Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pamela K. (McGillem) of Glezon; sons, Stacy of Evansville and Jason (Candi) Of Princeton; daughter, Kay (David) Riley of Petersburg; six grandchildren; one brother; and two sisters.

 

There will be a graveside service on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. for family, friends and neighbors at Williams Cemetery at Patoka Grove Church in Pike County

 

A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at the American Legion in Somerville.
