David V. Christmas, 59, of Princeton passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

 

He was born on May 23, 1953 in Gibson County to David and Mary Ann (Patton) Christmas. 

 

He worked for Mid-State Rubber in the Maintenance Dept. for 46 years. He was an ordained minister and was a member of the Francisco Gospel Ministry Church and also attended the New Covenant Baptist Church in Princeton. He was a member of the Southern Illinois Amateur Radio Club and the Community Emergency Response Team. He was a former president of IAM Local 2717 Union and a former vice-president of the IAM District 153 Union.

 

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Christmas of Princeton; step-daughter, Shari Braselton of Bloomington; step-son, Shannon Fryrear of Owensville; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Debbie Thomas of Oklahoma, Dixie Christmas of Evansville and Donna Tyree of Worthington; two brothers, Donny Christmas of Oklahoma and Dale Christmas of Francisco; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrell Edward Christmas. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Bob McDonald and Rev. Fred Denton. Burial will be at the Burris Chapel Cemetery in Linton.

 

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday at Colvin Funeral Home.
