Josephine L. Deal, 89, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at New Harmonie Healthcare.

She was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Fort Branch, the daughter of George and Edith (Smith) Leister.

Josie was a graduate of Fort Branch High School and retired from Hansen Corp. after 35 years as an assembler. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Owensville and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Tim (Jayne) Deal; grandchildren Chasidy (Mark) Gengelbach, Justin (Amy) Deal, Weslee and Kalin Deal; great-grandchildren Brandon Baumgart, Haylee and Tyler Gengelbach, Abby, Allie and Jace Deal, Taylor Deal and Gavin Hemmings; a brother Gene (Sharon) Leister; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George W. (Short) Deal; son, Larry Keith Deal; brothers, Darby, Delmar, Urmal, Paul and Earl Leister; sister, Jeanette Thompson.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Bart Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Owensville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
