Barbara Jo Alvis, 88, of Franklin, TN passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin.

She had lived in Franklin, TN since 2003 coming from San Antonio, TX.

She was born in Princeton on March 8, 1925 to Bert and Beatrice (Bruce) Kemp.

She graduated from Princeton High School in the class of 1943 and Deaconess School of Nursing. She was a past R.N. at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton. She married Robert Alvis in 1946 and traveled to Germany, Taiwan and Japan during his army career. 

She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents. 

She is survived by daughter Pam (Glenn) Speedy of Franklin, TN; sister Marilyn Wright of Evansville, IN; 3 grandsons Scott (Kathy) Speedy, Jeff Speedy and Brian (Kristen) Speedy; 5 great grandchildren Carter, Anna, Julia, Charlotte and Cara. 

Graveside Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Princeton with Rev. Chris Neikirk officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery.
