Donald E. Hudson, 74, of St. Regis Park, Louisville, Ky., and formerly of Patoka, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Palliative Care Unit BHE, surrounded by his family.

Don retired in 2010 after 43 years as a stockbroker with Goodbody, Merrill, Lynch, Paine Webber, AG Edwards and Investacorp. He was a graduate of Patoka High School, where he excelled in both baseball and basketball. He graduated from the University of Evansville, Wayne University-Dearborn, Mich., New York City and also served an internship on Wall Street in New York.

A former member of Buechel United Methodist Church, Hikes Point Optimist, Hikes Point Baseball coach, executive board treasurer of the Hemophilia Foundation, Methodist Men, Lambda Chi Alpha, Alumni Member of Patoka High School, University of Evansville, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Kentucky Humane Society and Wednesday Poker Club. Don was a loving husband, devoted father and also a friendly, outgoing person ready to help others. He was an avid U.K. fan, Formula One Racing and secondly followed the U of L men’s and women’s teams. An ardent student of the history of World War II, he attended the 51st anniversary of D-Day in Caen, France, and at the Normandy Beaches with his son James, who was studying in France.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Hudson of Princeton, and an infant son.

He leaves to cherish his memory his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Jane, and two loving sons, James (J.D.) of Newburgh and Douglas of Clarksville; a brother, David (Marilyn) of Patoka; two brothers-in-law, Ray (Sue) Stuckey of Patoka and Charles (Marlene) of Evansville; many good friends, Wednesday night poker group and his cats, Spook and Callie.

A celebration of life service was held at Pearson’s Funeral Home Sunday, March 30, 2014. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Ky.
