Betty June Blythe Barrett, 81, of Patoka passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her home.

She was born Dec. 2, 1932 in Fort Branch.

Betty worked at Potter and Brumfield, also Grubb Grocery Store, which was family owned.  

She worked at American Casting Foundry in Princeton where she became best friends with owners Jack and Billie Davis. She remained best friends with Billie Davis until her death. 

Betty managed B&H Sales in Patoka, Water Work Supplies that then became J&J Municipal Supply. She retired after helping J&J get started as a business.  

Betty was a very hard working woman, she put passion in everything she did. These businesses thrived because of her hard work. Betty was a wonderful mother and best friend, she loved her children, grandchildren a d great grandchildren, she was a very devoted Mom, she will be missed by all that ever knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Russell “Tig” Blythe of Fort Branch, stepfather William F. Grubb of Princeton, three sisters Alma Jean Dame, Patricia Bolden, Margaret Smith and her husband James B. Barrett in 1992.

She is survived by two daughters, Billana (John) H. Hyneman and Melanie (Alan) White both of Patoka; brothers, William D. (Kathy) Grubb, Haubstadt and Michael Eugene Blythe, Georgia; four granddaughters, Niki Shepler, Natalie Malone, Neali Bell, Honey White; 10 great-grandchildren: Alexandria Chandler, Luke Chandler, Easton Chandler, Dane Chandler, Kyle Cross, Jade Malone, John Allan Malone, Chase Scobo, Niya Bell and Kira Bell.

Betty was a member of Oasis Assembly of God, Princeton. Betty’s daughter Billana was blessed to be her Mom’s caretaker for the last years of her life on this earth: “Mom I miss you already!” A big thank you to Southern Care Hospice and the great grandchildren for all their help. God bless you all. “Thank you my family and friends for all your help, my husband John for his time to sit with Mom when I had my bad moments, the best loving family Betty could have had. She is a happy woman looking down from heaven saying well done family, I’m proud of you,” Billana said. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Oasis Assembly of God in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Mike Marsh. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka.

Visitation will be from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday at the church.
