James F. "Jim" Maier, age 71 passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at his home. 

He was born November 18, 1942 in Haubstadt to Robert A. and Elizabeth S. (Wilm) Maier. 

Jim retired as a technician with General Electric in Mt. Vernon.  He was an avid sports fan enjoying horse and car racing as well as a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. 


He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Virgil Maier. 

Jim is survived by one daughter, Kristi (Travis) Sims of Midway, KY.  Three sons, Wayne (Jerri) Maier of Evansville, David (Paula) Maier of Lancaster, OH and Michael Maier of New York, NY.  6 grandchildren.  Four sisters; Elvira Meny, Norma Williams and Mary May all of Haubstadt.  Sister Mary Beth Maier, O.S.B. of Ferdinand.  Two brothers, Robert E. Maier of Fort Branch and Edward M. Maier of St. Philip, IN.  Several nieces and nephews.  

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 14 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt with Fr. Tony Ernst as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM Sunday, July 13 at Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt with a Rosary service beginning at 3:45 PM.  Friends may also call Monday from 10 AM until Mass time at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters of St. Benedict at Ferdinand or Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
