John A. McGregor, 84, of Oakland City passed away on Monday September 8, 2014 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. John was born on November 4, 1929 in Pike County to Elva and Hazel (Withro) McGregor. He lived in Oakland City since 1960. John retired in 1993 after 40 years from Old Ben Coal Mine. He was a US Army Veteran who served in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of U.M.W.A. 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jane McGregor of Oakland City; 2 sons, Larry (Terry) McGregor of Florida and Tim McGregor of Oakland City; 1 daughter, Teresa (Jack) Purkiser of Francisco; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Kathy McGregor; brother, Claude McGregor; and a sister, Verla Houchins. 

There will be private graveside services. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City is in charge of arrangements.
