Hazel Irene Meier, 96 of Mackey passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton.

She was born Feb. 3, 1918 in Elgin, IL to David J. and Clara (Heine) Ross. 

She had lived in Mackey for over 60 years. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife helping her husband with the things that needed to be done and taking care of her family. She was a member of Mackey Salem United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer for 36 years. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen’s Center and playing bingo. 

Hazel is survived by 2 daughters, Marlane (Ben) Bryant and Marlene (Terry) Bassett of Princeton; son, David (Donna) Meier of Evansville, son-in-law; Amon Tooley of Oakland City, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marlin Meier in 1995, daughter, Hazel Tooley in 2012, 2 sisters, Ada Woolcott and Clara Samuelson. 

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Matt Malin officiating. Burial will follow in the Albright Cemetery in Mackey.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
