ROBERT THOMAS GARRETT

Owensboro, KY – Robert Thomas “Tom” Garrett, 93, of Owensboro, Kentucky formerly of Rockport, Indiana passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Tom spent his last night in the Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky watched over by his three children.

Tom was born in Patoka, Indiana on May 13, 1921 to the late Emery and Delania (Danks) Garrett.

After graduating from Patoka High School in 1939, he signed up with the U.S. Army Air Corp and did his basic training in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he met his future wife, Dorothy. Following WWII he attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, IN. He owned and operated an appliance store in Rockport and later a furniture store in Owensboro, KY.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; Parents; Sister, Nellou Risinger; Nephew, Ronald Risinger.

He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and is survived by his sons, Larry of Boonville, IN; Michael of Owensboro, KY; (His main caregiver), Daughter, Carol (Jim) Wright of Lynnville, IN; Grandchildren, Jamie Tooley of Lynnville, Jeff (Karen) of Dallas, TX, Melissa (Rob) Minton of Lynnville; and great-grandchildren, Erin, Meghan, Katie Toole , Alex, Emily and David Minton.
His greatest pleasures were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, and restoring old furniture. He was very patient, wise, and good humored. His favorite foods were ice cream and anything chocolate.

Services are 1 P.M. Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Indiana. Burial is in Oak Hill Cemetery in Patoka, Indiana.

Visitation is from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. Saturday, December 6, 2014 and from 8 A.M. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
