Joseph F. Vessels Jr. 79, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at Transcendant Care of Owensville. 

He was born to the late Joseph F. and Catherine (Young) Vessels on July 7, 1935 in Evansville, IN.

Joe was a retired meat packer.  He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, IN, Knights of Columbus Sts. Peter and Paul council # 2215, where he was Past Grand Knight and the State Financial Secretary. He graduated in 1953 at Mater Dei High School where he was in the 1st class to go all 4 years and was senior class president. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. Joe was manager of the Fort Branch Little League for 7 years.  He managed the 1st little league team to go undefeated.  He served on the Union Twp Trustee Advisory Board.   Joe was an avid L.A. Dodger and Mater Dei Sports fan, and loved to walk and play clabber.

Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son Chris Vessels.

Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois (Emge) Vessels and his beloved dog Bo of Fort Branch, 2 children, Joey A. (Diana) Vessels of Fort Branch, Kathy Isaacs of Evansville, IN, 2 grandchildren Cory Isaacs and his Fiancee, Julie Weiss and her son Matt, Deanna (Bret) Keller, 2 great grandchildren Ty and Chase Keller, 1 step-grandchild Faith Didier,and a god son Todd Niemeier. Brothers and sister; Jim (Janell) Vessels of Evansville, IN, Fred (Rose) Vessels of Evansville IN, Ben Vessels of Owensboro, KY, Greg (Amy) Vessels of Michigan, and Kathleen Gerbig of Evansville, IN. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch, Fathers Tony Ernst and Bhastati Sudhakar will be co-celebrants.  Entombment will be at Holy Cross Mausoleum. 

Visitation will be on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at the Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM until service time at the church on Tuesday.
