Robert Allen Helsley, 57, of Oakland City passed away on Monday November 9, 2015 at his home in Oakland City.

Robert was born on November 12, 1957 in Dubois County to Robert Helsley and Carolyn (McGregor) Helsley Peachee.

He lived in Oakland City most of his life and graduated from Wood Memorial High School in 1975. He then entered the Marine Corp. and served until 1979. He was an ammunition inspector at Crane Naval Base. He also went to Iraq and Afghanistan to work for the Government during the conflicts there. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and bodybuilding/exercise. 

He is survived by his wife, Debra (Hale) Helsley of Oakland City; mother, Carolyn Peachee of Evansville; son, Robert B. Helsley of Oakland City; 2 daughters, Jamie (Jason) Robinson of Oakland City and Christie (John) Farmer of Princeton; 2 grandchildren whom they raised, Tyler and Cody Schieve and 8 additional grandchildren, Nikki and Wyatt Helsley, Mason and Kacy Williams, Amariah, Fallyn, Brianna & Keva; great grandson, Jack; brother, Jeff Helsley of Oakland City; and 2 sisters, Ronda Minnette of Newburgh and Carol Bain of Tampa, FL. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Helsley in 1994. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, officiated by Pastor Gene Burkhart. Burial will be at the Townsley Cemetery in Mackey.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm on Friday and from 9 am until service time on Saturday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home. Military graveside services will be conducted by Oakland City American Legion #256.
