David Joe Hamilton, 55 of Wheeling area, left for his Heavenly Home on January 5, 2016, at the Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, following a chronic illness. 

David was a Gibson County resident for the past 23 years and was born April 17, 1960 in Mt. Carmel, IL, where he was raised. 

Surviving are his wife, Lisa Michelle (Reneer) Hamilton and his daughter Rachel Lynne (Hamilton) Odom, and son-in-law Jacob, two grandchildren, Tyler and Savanna Raine Odom all of Mt. Olive, NC. Also surviving are his parents, Donald Lee and Mary Ellen (Keppel) Hamilton of Mt. Carmel and a brother Darrell Lee Hamilton (Kris) of Mt. Carmel. He has multiple nieces, nephews and other extended family members surviving. 

David enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, such as camping, bowling, fishing, and he had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and was known to be quite a joker. He enjoyed working on “hotrods”, watching wrestling and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed his many friends and liked spending time on Facebook. 

Dave worked at various jobs throughout his life, including Key Market, Pacific Press and Shear and Midstates Rubber, where he worked for 27 years. He was always involved in the International Machinist Union Local there, holding positions of President and Auditor and was Union Stewart for several years. He was a retired member of the Union IN Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his family and friends and was passionate about his beliefs and stood up for them. It was said that he could be just a little bit stubborn. 

He loved music especially rock and roll music and some country and was a hard worker. He and his wife Lisa were together for 34 years and were married over 29 years. 

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday January 9, 2016 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Jim Gidcumb officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
