Steven M. Stewart, 62, of Princeton, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in Princeton where he had lived most of his life.  

He was born on June 29, 1953 in Evansville, Indiana, to Alva and Marguerite Stewart.

He graduated from Princeton Community High School in 1971, and then earned his B.S. Degree in Education from University of Evansville.  He was owner/operator of Steve Stewart Trucking.  He had taught at St. Joseph School and PCHS working with At-Risk children, and had also formerly worked for Old Ben Coal.  He was a 4-H leader for many years and he was a member of the Prince Lodge # 231 F. & A.M.  He was a member of the Columbia General Baptist Church and had been attending the First Baptist Church in Princeton.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Stewart, whom he married in 1975; a daughter, Sarah (Eric) Stewart-Bailey, and a son, Levi (Krystal) Stewart, both of Princeton; a sister, Lois (Johnny) Sprinkle of Ft. Branch, and 2 brothers, Gerald (Judy) Stewart of Palestine, TX and Dan Stewart of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Gracelyn Bailey and Axle and Asher Stewart; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Hensley of Princeton; brother-in-law, Leonard (Connie) Hensley of Princeton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sandra K. Riley; brothers, William Fred Stewart and Rick Stewart.

 Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at The Columbia General Baptist Church in Princeton, officiated by Rev. Jim Saunders.  Burial will be at the Columbia “White Church” Cemetery in Princeton. 

Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm on Monday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, and from 9 am until the service time on Tuesday at the church.
