Barbara (Bond) McCrary, 88, went to be with her Lord on April 16, 2016. She passed at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family. She had endured a long illness in which she demonstrated much faith and courage.

She was born in Detroit, MI, on February 16, 1928, the oldest child of Ebbie and Oline Beasley of Oakland City, IN.

She graduated from Oakland City University and received her Master’s in Counseling from Arizona State University.

She married Rev. Richard (Dick) Bond in 1947. They spent many years pastoring in country churches in Southern Indiana. Dick passed away in 1979.

In 1966 she was a teacher in Coolidge, AZ, and continued to teach and be guidance counselor at Phoenix Christian High School for many years. She was a positive spiritual influence to her students. She retired to Indiana to be near her family.

In 2006, she married Eldon McCrary whom she had known as a teenager. He passed away in 2014. She filled her days as a sports enthusiast and crocheted nearly 300 lapkins which were distributed to various nursing homes.

Barbara is survived by her 4 children: Marguery (Kari) Cornwell, Anne (Mark) Voyles, Dirk (Julia) Bond, and Robin Bond, 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, and step-children Mike (Marilyn) McCrary and Pat (Ron) Cantoni. Also surviving are sister, Phyllis Davis, and brother, Bill Beasley. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Her life will be celebrated with a service at 2pm on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN. Visitation will be from 12 – 2pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at 11 AM on Monday, April 25, 2016 at The National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
