Betty J. Boxell, 81, of Princeton, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Gibson General Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Princeton.

She was born December 10, 1934 in Wayne County, IL to Paul and Mildred (Sanders) Porter.

She was an Industrial Engineer at Hansen Manufacturing retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Hillside Methodist Church in Princeton. She also was a member of the Lady Elks and the A.Q.H.A.(American Quarter Horse Assoc.)

She is survived by her children, Joe (Karen) Boxell of Princeton, Chris (Leigh) Boxell of Huntingdon, TN and John (Karen) Boxell of Auburn, IL ;6 grandchildren, Ashley Douglas (Brian), Alex Boxell(Allison), Karianne Boxell, Blake Boxell (Sarah), Christy Carey (Andy) and Johnie Boxell; great grandchildren, Trisha and Jaxon Douglas & Piper and Abby Carey; and special friends, Sandy Kolb, Betty McDermott, Shirley Taylor, Jean Kirk and Janie Cloin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy M. Boxell in 1990; daughter, Peggy Hix in 1971; son, James “Butch” Boxell in 2012; great grandson, Bryson Douglas; and a sister, Carolyn Kirschner.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Pastor Chris Neikirk officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
