Hebrews 1:14 Ministering angels came for Ruth Imogene (Skelton) Bedwell on Sunday, August 21, 2016 and took her to be with her Heavenly Father.

Ruth was born May 8, 1928 to Festus and Malinda (Wagner) Skelton at their farm home in Mackey, Indiana. 

On April 9, 1947 Ruth married Billy B. Bedwell, her high school sweet heart and the love of her life, while he was home on leave from the United States Navy.  God blessed their marriage with a daughter Pamela and a son Mark.  Ruth's greatest joy was providing a caring and loving home for her husband and family.  She was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her passion for family and God leaves them a rich legacy of unselfish love and faith.  Ruth lived her life to the fullest.

Ruth spent much of her adult life serving others: Volunteering at Welborn Hospital (10 years), Evansville State Hospital (8) years, Gideon's International (41) years and Jail Ministry at the Gibson County Jail (20) years.  Ruth was also active in the local PTO, Ladies Aid, Community Action Ministry and as a member of the Mackey Church of the Nazarene. 

Ruth and her husband Bill, while serving in The Gideon's International, attended many state and international conventions, and Bible distributions throughout the United States and the local communities.  These activities involved placing Bibles in schools, hospitals, hotels, physician's offices, dentist's offices, nursing homes and handing them out on city streets. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Festus and Malinda, a sister Naomi (O. F.) Ward, a brother Vernon (Vernita) Skelton, a brother Adrian (Mildred) Skelton.

Surviving are her husband Bill of 69 years, a daughter Pamela (William) Maikranz, of Fenton, MO,  a son Mark (Sherri) Bedwell, of  Ft. Branch, IN,  Grandchildren Julie (Aaron) Stratman, Jane (Scott) Reuter, Tim (Emily) Bedwell, and Joe (Jessica) Bedwell.  Great grandchildren Kate, Jonah, Will, Rachel and Anna Stratman, Ella, Bradley Jameson, and Maverick Reuter, Jaden, Jacie, and Jesper Bedwell,  niece  Doris Schwiersch, nephews James, Ronnie Joe, and Don Skelton,  great nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Cecilia Rhoden and Georgia Wright.

Funeral services will be at the Mackey Church of the Nazarene at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 with the Rev. Bill Reed and Rev. Martin Hodge officiating.  Burial is at the Albright Cemetery East of Mackey.  Visitation is at the Corn Colvin Funeral Home, 323 N. Main St. in Oakland City, IN on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 am till service time at the church on August 26th.
