Imogene Cousert, 86, Yorktown, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

     She was born March 9, 1930 in Francisco, Indiana, the daughter of the late Elden and Marjorie (Dawson) Thompson. 

She graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in Washington Township, Gibson County, Indiana and later attended college at Oakland City University, Oakland City, Indiana. 

In 1949 Imogene married her husband of 67 years, Thomas Cousert, who survives. 

She was a member of True Light Baptist Church for 48 years.  She was a master quilter who developed her own unique way of quilting despite being told it wouldn’t work.  She also enjoyed knitting, and sewing, but most of all she loved her family.

     Left to cherish her memories and her quilts are her husband, Thomas Cousert, Yorktown, IN; daughter, Barbara Buck, (husband-Danny), Muncie, IN; brother, Joe Thompson, (wife-Elizabeth), Francisco, IN; grandson, Nathan Buck, (wife-Cari), Muncie, IN; granddaughter, Marinda Carpenter, (husband-Kyle), Indianapolis, IN; two great-grandsons, Carson Millspaugh and Dane Buck; brother-in-law, Jack Smith, Anderson, IN; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Cousert, Anderson, IN; and Maxine Cousert, Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Elden and Marjorie Thompson; and her sister, Joan Smith.

     Services will be held at True Light Baptist Church, Muncie, at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19 2016 with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating.

     Calling will be at Parson Mortuary from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

     A second calling will be held at Mt. Tabor Church, 5385 North 650 East, Patoka, IN from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 with burial immediately following in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
