Emma Lou (Ashby) McAtee, of Princeton, entered into heavenly celebration with family and much-loved friends who had passed before her, just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Gibson General Hospital 5th Floor, Skilled Nursing Facility.

Emma Lou was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a 1948 graduate of Princeton High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society.

Emma Lou was born on August 24, 1930 in Somerville to Charles and Edna (Hays) Ashby, both deceased. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Sheldon Ashby and Paul D. Ashby; husband, Kenneth McAtee; infant daughter, Juliann McAtee and second husband, Norman Troutman.

Emma Lou loved her house on Lake Road near Camp Carson, which she and husband Kenneth built. Thanks to very special neighbors, Bob and Sherri Pendleton and Donnie and Shea Truelock, she was able to stay in her home until November 2015.

She worked for 33 years in Gibson County Government, serving in the Auditor’s Office, Assessor’s Office, Superintendent of Schools and then at the Gibson County Highway Department.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Phil Ehling of Liberty, MO; granddaughter and fiancé, Angela Daw and Jeff Sanders of Kansas City, MO; great grandson, Breckin Daw of Kansas City, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Kate Ashby of Evansville; sister-in-law, Jonnie Ann Ashby of Princeton; niece, Robin Schmidt and husband, Jim of Evansville; niece, Pamela Santino of Rhode Island; nephew, Charlie Ashby of Massachusetts; nephew, Terry Ashby and wife, Kathy of Evansville; several cousins and very special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Jerry Wibert officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Church Cemetery, east of Princeton. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
