Oscar Robert Gibbs, 92, of Princeton, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, November 11, 2016 at his home he built and lived in for the past 66 years.

He was born January 16, 1924 in Gideon, MO and had resided in Princeton since 1948 coming from Missouri.

Oscar served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He retired from Emge Packing Company in Fort Branch where he had worked for 37 years. Oscar was a very skilled wood worker and will be remembered by many with the swings that he made, that they have at their homes. He enjoyed gardening and put out a large garden at his home for many years. He attended the Mt. Tabor General Baptist Church and previously had attended the First General Baptist Church in Princeton.

Oscar is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Bobbie Gibbs of Evansville; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Thomas Morrison and JoAnn and Stan Foley of Princeton; 5 grandchildren, Alan Gibbs, Anthony (Susan) Gibbs, Chris-Michael G. (Amanda) Morrison, Jason (Jennifer) Foley and Amanda (Jason) Hunsucker; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his caregivers, Sue Miller, Debbie O’Neal and Del Mowrer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gibbs; mother, Brittie Sebastion; daughter, Terri Lynn Gibbs; his wife of 68 years, Margie M. Gibbs in 2013; grandson, Aaron Dennis Gibbs; sister, Estelle; brother, Leonard Gibbs; half-brother, William Gibbs; half-sister, Lilly Edwards.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Wes Haas officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Colvin Funeral Home. Military rites will be provided by the Retired Military Veterans.
