Rodney W. Montgomery 54 of Oakland City entered his Heavenly home after a courageous battle with cancer, Sunday January 29,2017 at his home. 

He was born on August 26,1962 in Gibson County to George D & Evelyn (Bowen) Montgomery.

Rodney attended special education classes at Wood Memorial High School. He formerly attended Gibson County Association for Retarded Citizens and was a member of the Special Olympics Team. He achieved a gold medal in basketball. Rodney was an avid IU basketball fan, enjoyed boating, fishing, swimming, and truck rides with his father. Rodney never met a stranger and his laughter was infectious.

Rodney was preceded in death by brother Roger on March 28, 1988, his father George Montgomery in August 28,2015

He is survived by his mother Evelyn Montgomery of Oakland City, brother Raymond (Theresa) Montgomery of Washington, IN, Sisters: Marilyn Schisel of Petersburg, IN and Joyce (Jack) Weber of Oakland City, IN. 

Services will be Friday February 3, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel with burial at Montgomery Cemetery, Rev. Darrin D. Nossett officiating. Visitation will be Friday 9:00 A.M. until service time at the chapel.
