Chawn E Caniff 59, of Oakland City entered rest on Saturday March 11, 2017 at
Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

He was born on April 14,1957 in Princeton to Ed & Josephine Caniff.

Oakland City was his home his entire life. He graduated from Wood Memorial 1975 and Purdue University 1979 BS Mechanical Engineering.  He was employed 30 yrs. at various coal companies including Old Ben & Peabody, and

Chawn was a proud member of several organizations that he enjoyed dedicating his time to.  Past President & long time board member of Gibson County United Way, Boy Scouts of America where he achieved highest rank of Eagle Scout. Volunteered with local Little League & Junior High Football along with other various community activities.  Chawn was most proud of being a dedicated member of the Oakland City Masonic Lodge #467 where he held the highest honor of Master Mason, Scottish Rite with honor of 33rd degree. Hadi Shrine of Evansville, Order of the Purple Cross & Knight York Cross of Honour. He was a dedicated and loving man.

He is survived by his children Tim & Marquita Wright of Princeton, Daughter Lora (Brian) Dickman of Evansville. Proud grandfather of Payton, Alivia & Marleigh Wright of Princeton IN, Aria & Alexander Dickman of Evansville, IN
His Masonic Brothers along with several cousins & friends.

Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday March 15,2017,10:00 A.M. at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel. Rev. Darin D. Nossett will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00P.M. Tuesday and from 8:00A.M. until services on Wednesday. Oakland City Masonic Lodge #467 will conduct Memorial Services 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the chapel.
