Velma Ruth (Gowen) Dyson, 94, of Union, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at Golden Living Center in Petersburg, Indiana.

She was born September 17, 1922 in Union, Indiana to the late Urban and Minnie (Catt) Gowen.

She had worked at the former Devoe & Reynolds in Princeton. She was a member of Union Community Church and was the pianist and organist there for many years. 

She is survived by her son, Larry Vaughn Dyson (Nancy) of Brooksville, Florida; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Dyson of Princeton; grandchildren, Melanie Dyson, Stefanie (Joey) Goff, Steven (Chandra) Dyson and Brian Dyson; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Brooke, Caitlyn, Elizabeth, Andrea, Keelie and Keelan; and a great-great granddaughter, Faith.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald Dyson in 1985; son, Jerry Dyson, and great-grandson, Dominic Dyson.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. CST Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Kevin Easton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. CST on Friday at the Colvin Funeral Home.
