Mark A. Broshears, 69 of Oakland City passed after a short illness Sunday May 14,2017 at his home.

He was born on June 19,1947 in Oakland City, to James Walker & Violet Irene(Woolsey) Broshears.


Mark received his bachelor degree in education from Oakland City College, and his masters from University of Evansville. He taught in Pike County School Corporation and later worked in his family’s Standard Oil business. Most recently he worked for GIBCO. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He could also be seen caring for his horses. Mark was a life- long member of the First General Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Usher and served on the Church Council. And a member Oakland City Masonic Lodge #467 where he was a Past Master. Mark has served several years on the Oakland City Town Council.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Emily Broshears in Dec. 2013.

He survived by wife of 47 years Diana (Mason) Broshears, son Jason (Heather) Broshears of Oakland City. Granddaughter, Kyra Etheridge and Grandson, Simeon Michael Broshears, brother; James Woolsey (Jeanette) Broshears Jr, of Oakland City and sister Mareda (Dennis) Conwell of Newburgh, Uncle Donald Woolsey of Somerville, Nephew and nieces.

Services will be Wednesday May 17,2017 10:00 A.M. at the First General Baptist Church with Rev. Alec Hensley officiating. Burial will take place in Montgomery Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel and from 8:00 A.M Wednesday until services at the church, envelopes will be available at the chapel.
