Marshetta Bent, 95, passed away at her son’s (Greg) home in Fort Branch, IN on August 11, 2017.

She was born to the late Clarence and Irene (Lockyear) Saulmon on July 18, 1922 in Evansville, IN.

She was a member of the Fort Branch First Presbyterian Church, charter member of the Zeta Gamma Chapter of Psi Iota Xi, a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

She graduated from Evansville Central High School, received a B.S. Degree from Indiana University in teaching and a M.S. Degree from Evansville College. She was a teacher for over 40 years at Haubstadt Grade School, Marlette Grade School, and Fort Branch Community School. She loved her Cardinals and Cubs, playing bingo and playing in several bridge clubs. In her later years, she loved sitting on the porch waving to everyone. She had the most fun when she could be around her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband John Bent, her son Broc Bent, her sister Margaret Saulmon and an infant brother.

She is survived by her sons; Greg (Jackie) Bent of Fort Branch, IN and John (Linda) Bent of Indianapolis, IN, grandchildren; Keri (Brett) Brown, Andy (Lora) Bent, Becky (Doug) Roberts, Scott (Christine Weber) Bent, Chris (Brooke) Bent, great grandchildren; Tori Brown, Austin Brown, Madeline Bent, Blake Roberts, Brady Roberts, Kylee Bent, and Brody Bent, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, IN officiated by Reverend Corey Atkins. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Stodghill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Fort Branch, IN following the service.
