Bernard J. Thompson, 93, passed away at his home surrounded by all his family, Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

He was born in Gibson County on June 19, 1924 to the late Bernie and Velma (Humes) Thompson.

He was a graduate of Fort Branch High School class of 1942, married the love of his life Virginia Ruth (Matsel) in 1943.

They together were very faithful members of the First Christian Church Owensville as he served as an Elder and Deacon for many years. Bernard worked and retired from Potter and Brumfield as a tool maker after many years. Bernard was also a dedicated member of his community as a town councilman serving for 16 years in that capacity.

Bernard had a few hobbies; gardening, playing the guitar, watching basketball and anything his children and grandchildren were involved in. Family was a very important part of their lives. Also mentoring to the elderly, middle aged and young alike his believers in Christ Jesus Our Lord and savior.

Survivors include four children, Danny (Brenda) Thompson of Greenwood, IN; Jerry (Kari) Thompson of McKinney, TX; Tim (Carla) Thompson and Jennifer (Jim) Robinson both of Owensville; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Ruth in April 2016, siblings, George Thompson, Florence Bump and Pauline Romerhausen.

Services will be held on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church with Bart Newton officiating. Burial to follow in the Owensville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday October 27, from 4-8 pm at Holders Funeral Home and again Saturday from 11:00 am until the service hour at the church.
