Steve Phillips, 60 of Petersburg passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

He was born Nov. 16, 1957 to John Clayton and Flo Ellen (Shawhan) Phillips who preceded him in death

Steve had lived in Petersburg most of his life. He graduated from Pike Central High School in 1976 and graduated from Harry Wendelstedt School of Umpires in Daytona Beach, FL. in 1986. He umpired baseball for over 20 years. He was an avid sports fan, a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and an Indiana University and University of Evansville Basketball fan. Steve was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Petersburg and had worked as a Security Guard of Solar Source Mine for five years.

He is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. central time Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with John Manges officiating. Burial will follow in the Decker Cemetery in rural Patoka. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. central time until 1 p.m. on Thursday.
