From an old newspaper clipping

Mr. And Mrs. William H. LYNCH of Patoka, have received a letter from their son, Thomas E. LYNCH, announcing his safe arrival in
France.  Young LYNCH enlisted in the army at Indianapolis over a year ago.  He enlisted for coast artillery and was sent to Ft. Michia, N.Y., from there he volunteered for service in France in the heavy artillery.  He is only 19 years old and says he likes his work and the climate is fine

Note:  He & his partner, Jerry Wheeler, owned & operated The LYNCH & Wheeler Implement Co.   Business was located on Main Street, Patoka, IN, in what is today the Post Office, across from what is now the Former Patoka bank building.
