DATE 12/31/1996 NAME: Donna Hunt APPLEGATHAPPLEGATH, Joseph and Fannie. Reported to have lived in Princeton area 1947. They had one son, Carl APPLEGATH b. 1904, m. Ruby ? and may have owned a jewelry store. This will fill in a blank in a connected family as I belive the line ends with Carl. Carl and Ruby are reported to have been childless. I am searching for any information on Jacob BANTA and spouse Cillinda WILDER BANTA. They were married in Gibson County in 1826. Also searching for any records of their children. DATE 12/31/1996 BARKERBARKER, Stewart Elias b. 1820 or 1821, in or around Gibson Co. Stewart first appears in his own right in the 1840 census where he is placed in Wabash Twp.. The census information I have seen (not firsthand records) indicate a wife, 20-30 years, a boy under 5 and a girl 10-15. Stewart may have been the son of one of three men listed in the 1820 Indiana census -- Jesse BARKER (Gibson Co.), William BARKER (Gibson Co.) or Elias BARKER (Wabash Co.). The 1830 census lists Elias in Gibson Co., sharing a household with Jesse at "157 no twp l". As I live on the east coast, I don't have any way to get around Gibson Co. I would be forever grateful for any information, advice or suggestions about how I can nail this down. MILLARD FILLMORE COX was b. 1856 in Hazelton, Gibson Co. He married LUCY THORN around 1880? Millard moved to Knox Co. after he married. They had 8 children. They are known to have come from KY and settled in Posey/Gibson Counties. George m. Achsah GOODWIN and they had several children including Narcissa (my g-grandmother) who m. Abraham LAND in 1867. Achsah's father was Elijah GOODWIN who was one of the founders of Old Union Church. She had a brother Moses. Abraham was a Civil War vet and the youngest child of Abraham LAND and Sarah EDWARDS who settled in Gibson Co. (Johnson Twp.) about 1827-1830. Abraham and Sarah came from TN and both are buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Abraham d. in 1846 and was a veteran of the War of 1812. Their eldest son was Judge William LAND and their youngest was Abraham. Abraham may have been b. a short time after his father died (1846) as his birthyear is 1846 or 1847. MONTGOMERY / TURPINMONTGOMERY, James. I am trying to locate the James MONTGOMERY family in the Vincennes, Knox Co. area. Family traditions say that Mary MONTGOMERY TURPIN was in indentured servent to a MONTGOMERY family in this area. Mary's death cert. lists her father as James MONTGOMERY (father unknown had been crossed off and replaced with James), and mother is listed as unknown. Both parents are listed as being born in Ireland. Mary is listed as b. in KY. Mary was born 1851 and m. Thomas TURPIN in Gibson Co. in 1869.
