(Most of the documents were assembled in the 1920's, but often refer to events from much earlier.  There is a tremendous amount of detail referring to proof of family relationships.)

G. M. Emmerson, being first duly sworn on his oath deposes and says, that he was personally acquainted with Franklin M. Knowles, who in life and at the time of his death was the owner of 105 acres of land in the East ½ of Section 23, Town 3 south, range 12 west in Gibson County Indiana, and he knows that said Franklin M. Knowles departed this life, in testate, about the month of February in the year 1887, leaving him surviving as his only heirs at law his widow, Elizabeth F. Knowles , and the following three children, namely Elam F. Knowles; Alvis O. Knowles and Martha E. Knowles. Signed G. M. Emmerson . Subscribed and sworn to before me on this 7th day of January 1924 signed Charles W. Benton, Notary Public.
